Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to prepare my skin for microneedling?
Topical agents which increase skin sensitivity, such as retinoids, should be avoided for 5 days prior to treatment. Anti-inflammatory medication should also be avoided for 3 days prior to the treatment. Clients prone to cold sores should be treated with antiviral medication for 2 days before the procedure.
Does sun exposure affect microneedling?
Unprotected sun exposure, sunburn and IPL/Laser treatments in the two weeks prior to treatment are all a contraindication to microneedling. Sun exposure should also be avoided for two weeks after the treatment.
What should I expect after microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure with very little downtime. The treatment typically causes mild swelling and redness, similar to a mild sunburn, in the days following the procedure. Your clinician will provide Skinfuse LIFT, a clean, non-cytotoxic hydrogel used to prevent the skin from drying out post-treatment. Most patients report the redness and swelling gone within 2-3 days.
What is the best treatment package to accompany microneedling treatments?
The area treated will appear red following treatment and there may be some minor bruising. Clients should avoid swimming, saunas, UV exposure and vigorous exercise for 2 days following the treatment. Alcohol, caffeine and certain medication should be avoided for at least three days
